Massive Fish Oil Failure - Interview with Brian Peskin

http://youtu.be/It3AjLAKv7g

More superb science by the incomparable Professor Brian Peskin. I only wish more people would listen to him, learn how to understand, and read the studies and experiment published papers on fish oil, essential oils and parent essential oil derivatives (DHA & EPA), then actually read and make their own conclusions rather than just following the mass beliefs system. Because, as Brian says over and over, so many studies are poorly designed and provide incorrect results and yet when the media sends them viral, it is very hard to dislodge the incorrect conclusions from our stubborn brains. Everyone wants to see positive results so when studies get overturned, those results never make it out into the public eye! We are stuck with results that are incorrect and continue to perpetuate the myths!!

Excellent work, Professor Peskin. Once again, you reign supreme in this field of cancer as well as the critically important area of Parent Essential Oils.

Something's Fishy

Hiroko has been telling me about this very strong smelling fermented, smoked fish that she loves. She bought some and it has been sitting in the fridge, unopened for a while. She was afraid I would hate the smell so didn't want to open it. I'm pretty used to the strong smells of some Japanese foods such as natto, and other Japanese pickles so I wasn't particularly concerned.

Today she opened it...

Well, I must admit that the smell is extremely unique. In fact, once tasted, the smell/taste is a mingling of the fermented fish as well as that very unique other ... "Fragrance". In fact it is such a strong smell and so well known that even though I have never physically tasted what it smells like, the smell leads one to believe that one is actually tasting that from which this unique odour emanates.

Anyone who has ever done gardening, or visited a farm will be quite familiar with this fragrance, though I highly doubt that any of you have actually ever tasted it other than through the transfer of the odour from your nose to your mouth.

What on earth could this dried, smoked, fermented fish actually smell and taste like, you ask?

...

...

...

Cow manure.

I had to try it two more times to be sure my mind wasn't deceiving me.

Nope.

It definitely smells and tastes like cow manure.

And like I said earlier, I have never tasted cow manure, but the odour of this fish transfers quite easily to the mouth and one is most definitely left with the sense that one has just consumed fish that was dried and preserved in cow manure.

I love Japan!

Perpetuating the Myth

Hiroko is clumsy.

That's what she tells me, anyway. And apparently ever since she was young it was ingrained in her that she was a clumsy girl. So as she grew up, every time something happened that required an "oops!" Clumsy Hiroko was to blame.

At home, in school, at work, on the street, people she knew would reinforce within her, just as she reinforced within herself that she was a clumsy girl.

And on it went until this "I am clumsy" became a part of her, an unchangeable "fact" about Hiroko. (One of the very first things Hiroko ever told me was that she is a clumsy person). So the circle is relentless.

Now every time she bumps into something, drops something, breaks something, hurts herself... She blames it on her clumsy "nature".

"That's just the way I am." Have you ever heard that before? Have you ever used that before? Do you have your own beliefs that might be holding you back but because they are "facts of life" you don't consider changing them?

"That's just the way I am." "I'm a slow reader." "I can't do math". "I can't sing." (<-- that's me, by the way) and more. We all do it. We all have some facts about ourselves that are "us". And that's just the way it is, "god damn it!"

Well the good news is, those facts are not actually written in stone that never wears down. You CAN change your beliefs. You CAN change your "facts". Facts are just a person's perceptions of an incident or occurrence. If it was an infallible truth then 100% of the people would think the same way. But they don't, do they? And that's your first clue that should tell you something is possibly amiss with the way you are thinking.

How many times do we hear, read, see people arguing "to the death" for their point of view, their "facts"? It happens all the time! "I'm right, you're wrong. Your thinking makes no sense; look at the facts! It's so obvious!!! Can't you see? Are you blind?!?"

The truth is everybody is basically blind to everything outside their own belief system. How they see the world is based upon their JBOPPS: Judgements, Beliefs, Opinions, Perceptions, and Prejudices. EVERYONE. Me included.

But we CAN change, we can change the way we see things. We can change our belief system if it no longer benefits us. We don't HAVE to stick to it "until death does part us from it".

Hiroko is clumsy. That's what she tells me. That's what she believes.

On Wednesday evening, on the last step of our home station she stumbled. I've done it. You've probably done it, right? But Hiroko is clumsy, so she tells me. So not only did she stumble, no no no. She twisted her ankle as well. Hey! We've all done that, yes? But because Hiroko is clumsy it went further than that. Yep. The next day at work it was still quite painful and swollen. The doctor offered to X-ray it for her.

It turns out that the force tore the tendon from the bone, and while that was happening it also split a bit of the bone.

So, Hiroko broke her ankle on the last step home.

Perpetuating a myth has more impact than you may realize.

Change those beliefs that no longer suit you. Start today.

I absolutely adore my wife. Im ceazy about her. But no matter how often she tries to convince me; i refuse to buy into The myth. I refuse to perpetuate the myth. Hiroko is NOT clumsy. She had an unfortunate accident, that had nothing to do with a "clumsy nature", because that kind of nature does not exist.

Unless we create that belief within us...

As Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can (are), or think you can't (aren't), you're right. "

I love you!

Too Much Acetaminophen Can Cause Liver Damage.

Here is a summary of an article (for Michelle) on acetaminophen (eg. Tylenol). She was recently discussing the possibility of having taken too much for her chronic pain. The links are important to read for further understanding.

FDA: Too Much Acetaminophen Can Cause Liver Damage.

HealthDay (1/31, Dallas) reports Food and Drug Administration officials issued aconsumer update warning consumers that taking "too much acetaminophen, an active ingredient in many commonly used drugs for fever and pain relief, including Tylenol, can cause liver damage." The agency cautioned that more than "600 prescription and over-the-counter medications contain acetaminophen...and doubling up on these remedies can be dangerous." Dr. Fathia Gibril, a supervisory medical officer at the agency, said, "If you're taking more than one medicine at a time, you may be putting yourself at risk for liver damage."

Wishing Well

I wish that I could access other people's blogs here on blogger through the iPhone Blogger App, but it doesn't seem to be an option. The only thing I am able to do is create and view my own stuff.

Which seems a little narcissistic to me...

Not that I'm against loving myself; after all I'm continually driving to be a better human being in my quest for an enriching life. I love me!

My best friend Paula is writing very interesting stuff on her lifestyle and dietary shift to a whole food, natural food existence. I wish i could access it here. She has linked it to Google's G+. I can view it there but cannot seem to get the comments section to work. Free is free so that doesn't surprise me terribly, but it's a shame I have to turn on the computer to share my thoughts on her blog.

I wish for her to find this note.

I wish for everyone reading this, for those people whom I meet and just pass by today, and even those with whom I have no interaction at all, I wish for them all have a wonderful, enriching, fulfilling day.

I love you!

h2o Back in Action, Part 3: Bonus Suggestions

This is the 3rd and final episode in my "h2o" series. In this video I give you a few extra hints on how to prevent the sudden back attack that comes from doing "every day things" like cutting cheese, pouring coffee, picking up a frypan, washing your face, brushing your teeth, doing the dishes, etc. Figuring this little trick out has made a huge difference in my life. I know there are people out there who will agree with me!

I hope that this little hint gets picked up by some people who want to reduce their "back attack episodes". Through prevention, and developing this good habit (these good habits), it can really make a difference in your well-being. I love you!

h2o Back in Action, Part 2: Getting Down to Business

Part 2 of the series. If you need to get right down to business, this will show you what "h2o" is all about. I hope it works as well for those of you with back pain, as it has for me!

h2o Back in Action, Part 1: Background

I have wanted to make this series for a very long time. FINALLY, I did. I hope it helps those of you out there with back pain. This is part 1 of three parts. I had a lot to say on the topic as I have been a back pain pro now for over 20 years.
